The 2010 MMM road show
2010’s Make Measurement Matter Road Show was a true ‘blue chip’ event. As well as the comprehensive line-up of 30 member companies who between them offered some of the most up-to-the-minute developments in manufacturing measurement systems and services – with many world and European leaders in their fields – there were also the registrants who attended.
Companies like BAE Systems, Rolls Royce plc, Bombardier Aerospace, GKN Aerospace, Delphi Diesel Systems, Bentley Motors and Alstom Transport were among the more than 140 committed attendees – and their quality and standing in their sectors was testament to the growing reputation MMM now has across many sectors.
“2010 was the fourth year of the road show,” says GTMA CEO Julia Moore. “Each year the event seems to outgrow the previous year, partly because the metrology base within GTMA has grown considerably over that time. The spread of experience of the exhibitors, some of them with world leading measurement solutions, makes the event a real one-stop shop for the sector.”
With exhibitors limited to 30 (this will be 35 for 2011) it also means the show has an intimacy not found at larger exhibitions, with plenty of opportunity for real business issues to be discussed face to face.
2010 also saw two keynote speakers with strong messages:
Christopher Biddle, Manufacturing Systems Executive Rolls Royce plc – on delivering process and system solutions to manufacturing applications across product sectors globally.
Dr Mark Williams who is part of the International Manufacturing Centre at the WMG and was addressing the latest advances in metrology technology to generate data relevant to the manufacture and delivery of new products.
The event was held at The Digital Lab at Warwick University, Coventry – the creation of Professor Lord Kumar Bhattacharyya and which has been developed with the support of Advantage West Midlands.
