- strong links across sector
Regular sector events, often with OEMs and Tier 1s, have helped forge a strong Medical Sector network of GTMA companies with vast experience across a wide range of disciplines.
The GTMA Medical Network was one of the first sector networks to be set up by GTMA and includes many companies with proven experience in the production of medical devices and components.
The Medical industry is often viewed as an ideal sector to win business, partly because it is constantly changing and advancing with an almost continual stream of new products.
But it can also be demanding due to the many sub sectors involved from surgical implants to dentistry and the requirements of both the FDA and the need for accreditations such as EN:13485.
GTMA is the helping hand for many companies and we help our members face up to the demands and focus on the areas of most opportunities.
In turn, this is welcomed by the industry buyers – our development programmes address the needs of the customers and our Manufacturing Resource Centre is involved throughout all sub sector supply chains from concept to component.
Our excellent Medical Executive Briefing Report not only highlighted opportunities and challenges in medical (and pharmaceutical) but also showcased a lot of the good work being done by Network members.
During 2010, the focus was strengthened further when Craig Bluett, Managing Director of member company Wines Medical, joined as Business Development Director for the medical sector.
As well as meetings with OEMs and Tier 1s our members also get close to surgeons and others at the front end to ensure we put our efforts into leading edge technologies for the sector.
