SECTOR FOCUS HELPS BUYERS AND SUPPLIERS

GTMA has a strong focus on bringing strength to supply chains across key sectors in the UK – and pivotal to this are Buyer:Supplier Networks. Two of the most successful of these are these are the Aerospace Network, launched by GTMA in 2005, and the Medical Network, launched soon after.

An important issue for GTMA is to ensure that member companies have the right competencies to meet buyer requirements, and close links have been forged with major Aerospace and Medical Trade Organisations, OEMs and Tier 1 companies to make this happen.

GTMA, in association with Channel Publications Ltd, has produced two highly respected Executive Briefing publications containing overviews of the Aerospace and Medical sectors.

The Briefings give overviews of their respective industries, and include a comprehensive Business Zone of information for manufacturing companies.

Aerospace suppliers will also find invaluable information on supplier requirements at this link:

SBAC SC21 Implementation Guide

The SBAC SC21 Implementation Guide is the ‘must have’ publication for companies involved (or wanting to become involved) in the sector as it explains the supply chain requirements of the Aerospace industry.

A crucial element of the work that GTMA does in the sectors is the forging of close relationships with buyers and trade associations; and then setting up programmes to help our member companies achieve the competencies needed to succeed.

One example in aerospace – and another step in GTMA’s commitment to the sector, is a strategic partnership it forged with FAC, the Farnborough Aerospace Consortium, announced in mid-2007.

This exciting new venture came at an important time for FAC as it was expanding its UK presence through strategic partnerships with a number of international aerospace and defence groups as well as launching a dedicated business development office in Dubai.

The tangible benefits for FAC and GTMA members are:

1) Shared events and services between the two associations to bring a more diverse schedule for both organisations
2) With over 60 years of experience, GTMA can assist FAC develop world leading manufacturing services
3) FAC can help GTMA members with routes to new aerospace markets

4) Turnkey solutions for buyers can now be realised with the facilities and services available from FAC and GTMA member companies
