GTMA MEMBERS BOOST EMOULD@WORK PROJECT

Mouldmaker Tooling Technologies Ltd., and Diemould Service Co. Ltd. (DMS), the leading UK manufacturer and distributor of mould components, are the latest GTMA members to join emould@work, bringing to six the number of UK partners in the EU funded software R&D project. The project, led by GTMA and Delcam, also involves Spanish, Portuguese and Turkish organisations.

Ten months into the two year project activities are focused on addressing:

  • The ownership and management of multi-location projects
  • Tracking of and 24/7 access to project information in all forms
  • Incomplete data and late specification changes
  • Mould design and manufacturing cycles
  • Data exchange between solid and surface modellers
  • Supplier and component sourcing cycles

Tooling Technologies will work on automating mould design and manufacture alongside current partners ARRK and Whitehead Precision. According to Managing Director, Paul McMorris, “Any initiative that helps us work more productively and reduces the new product development cycle demands our involvement so we are delighted to be part of the project.” DMS Director, David Odlin, is equally positive: “Allowing our customers to view and purchase components online will result in new time saving products and services being immediately available to them - only the Internet offers us the ability to keep all customers completely up to date.” The emould@work project is one of several initiatives involving GTMA which is keen to see more members getting involved. Director, Julia Moore, believes that emould@work is important because it revolves around supply chain collaboration. She commented: “When the entire supply chain, from OEM and designer to mouldmaker and component supplier, works together throughout a new product’s development, we can compete with anyone.” For details of how you can get involved in emould@work, please contact GTMA.
