GTMA Logo

GTMA (Gauge And Tool Makers Association)

The GTMA represents UK toolmaking, precision machining metrology, tooling technologies and rapid product development. Its role in emould@work was to:

  • Gather requirements and evaluate feedback from UK user partners, and produce specifications and feedback reports
  • Disseminate the results of the project to the industry in the UK
  • Develop and maintain the project website

ARRK

ARRK is the largest model maker and prototype manufacturer in the world, with over 50 years of experience in the industry. The ARRK product development group provides an extensive array of services including rapid prototyping, CAD/CAM finishing, fabricated prototypes, vacupressure moulding and complete product finishing. As an emould@work partner, ARRK had responsibility for:

  • The development of an online tool that helps product designers to design easily-moulded products
  • The requirements, feedback and evaluation of project tools
  • Research into the 'rules' for machining holes and pockets so that they can be incorporated into the automated tools
  • Test machining as necessary

Whitehead Precision has been designing and producing complex moulds of up to 3 tonnes in weight for over 20 years. With large capacity, state-of-the-art computerised high speed machine tools, the company can reliably progress several suites of tools through the workshop at the same time. Within the emould@work project, Whitehead Precision was responsible for:

  • Providing requirements and knowledge of the mould design process
  • Testing and evaluating tools during the course of the project

  • Participate in the development of collaboration tools

Spanish partner: ASCAMM
(Mould And Die Industry Technological Centre)

ASCAMM aims to improve the competitiveness of the Spanish mould and die sector (plastic processing and metal forming) by helping industrial companies improve their quality, innovation and internationalisation. As an emould@work partner, ASCAMM had responsibility for:

  • Gathering requirements and evaluating feedback from Spanish user partners, producing specifications and feedback reports, with specific interest in the area of 'best practice' in mould design.
  • Setting up a demonstration site for online collaborative mould design
  • Hosting or aiding the set-up of a Spanish e-marketplace for the mould and die industry
  • Disseminating project results in Spain
  • Translating the project website into Spanish

Portuguese partner: Moldecar

Moldecar specialises in making precision moulds for die cast and plastic injection, generated by CADCAM. Moldecar's involvement encompassed:

  • Providing the first link for input on mouldmaking and e-marketplace requirements
  • Providing requirements and knowledge of the mould design process
  • Testing and evaluating tools developed during the project.
