Tooling Technologies & Materials

Tooling is dependent on the manufacturing, but essentially refers to how something is made. Working or manufacturing aids such as cutting tools, dies, fixtures, gauges, jigs, moulds and patterns are limited in use to a specific production line or the performance of a specific contract or job. What must be remembered, is that tooling does not include machinery.

The GTMA Supplier Directory is home to a variety of companies offering tooling technologies and high-quality materials.

Tooling can refer to a cutting tool in machining. Furthermore, a fixed workholding or support device is referred to as a fixture and a movable workholding or support device is a jig. Tooling also refers to tool management which involves keeping track of and maximising efficient use of all the tooling.

Again, materials will depend on what is being manufactured. But the GTMA Supplier Directory has a number of specialist suppliers that will be able to provide whatever materials are needed.
