Thousands of South West aerospace and defence jobs are being supported after the Government signed a £4.5bn deal with the Republic of Türkiye for 20 Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft and an associated weapons and integration package.

The agreement, described by ministers as the biggest fighter jet export deal in a generation, follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two NATO members in July.

It will sustain more than 20,000 highly skilled jobs across the UK supply chain, including in the South West, where it will provide a sizeable boost for aero-engine group Rolls-Royce’s Bristol plant, the assembly site of the Typhoon’s EJ200 engine.

IndiGo, India’s largest airline, has finalised a commitment for 30 Airbus A350 aircraft, converting a Memorandum of Understanding signed in June into a firm order.

This brings the airline’s total A350 orders to 60 aircraft. The expanded order marks a strategic shift for IndiGo as it prepares to enter the long-haul international market, leveraging the A350’s long range and efficiency to support its global ambitions.

Earlier this month the airline confirmed a second route from Manchester Airport to India during Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s trade mission to the country.

The UK aerospace sector has received a boost through an order of 100 new aircraft from Vietnamese carrier VietJet.

Following a meeting between Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, and Vietnamese General Secretary, To Lam, in Downing Street, the budget airline confirmed it had made an order for Airbus A321neo aircraft.
