Estimated reading time 3 minutes

Space is transforming the world, and the UK needs to Act Now or Lose Out

The countdown is on for the biggest ever space industry event to be held in Scotland, now just three weeks away. Space-Comm Expo Scotland at SEC Glasgow from 3-4 December is preparing for launch with over 2,300 delegates, 100 speakers and 80 exhibitors, showcasing the very latest space technology and debating the biggest challenges for a new global space age.

The final event preparations come just a week after The House of Lords UK Engagement with Space Committee released its report ‘The Space Economy, Act Now or Lose Out’ urging the UK Government to take action if the UK is to be a winner in the new race for space. Baroness Ashton, Chair of the Space Committee, stated: “Only the most strategic and forward-looking nations will capture the economic and scientific rewards of this new space age. With the right leadership, co-ordination, and investment the UK can be there. Space is transforming the world.”

Space-Comm Expo Scotland is free to register for the exhibition arena with a premium pass required for the conference, government, and business forums. Organisers are urging attendees to register now or lose out on the opportunity to attend one of the UK’s most important space industry events of the year. Register today using the following Registration Form.

Colin Baldwin, CEO of UKspace the official trade association of the UK space industry, said: “Space-Comm Expo Scotland offers a unique opportunity for companies to showcase the breadth of expertise across the sector, as well as for delegates to network with industry and government stakeholders.”

Keynote speakers confirmed for the event include NASA, UK Space Agency, the Scottish Government and Space Scotland with policymakers, primes, entrepreneurs, investors, and academics from across the global space industry. The two-day programme will feature speakers, panel sessions, networking and exhibitors including spaceports, launch providers, satellite manufacturers, in-orbit servicing and assembly, cyber and robotics engineers from over 30 nations. The event will also feature a Meet-The-Buyer programme designed to give direct access to business leaders from leading space companies, and symposiums on investment and space law. The award-winning expo offers unrivalled opportunities for companies looking to explore new opportunities to join the space industry.

There has never been a more important era for the UK and Scottish space industry as highlighted by the House of Lords statement to ‘Act Now or Lose Out’. In the UK the space industry is valued at £18.6 billion to the economy with nearly 20% of GDP reliant on space connectivity and satellite data, essential for communications, security, financial transfers, navigation, transport, emergency services, and weather forecasting. Space and satellites are now critical infrastructure essential for daily life and for security in a challenging geopolitical environment.

Scotland has one of the fastest growing space industries in Europe, with rocket launch ambitions from SaxaVord Spaceport in The Shetlands, launch providers including Skyrora and Orbex, small satellite manufacturers including AAC Clyde Space, Spire Global and Alba Orbital, and world leading universities with research and test facilities.

Space-Comm Expo is organised in partnership with ADS Group and supported by government, industry, and commercial sponsors, to promote collaboration and investment to drive growth and new opportunities for the UK and global space industry. Space-Comm is the leading organising of space industry events attracting leaders and influencers from across the world to Space-Comm Expo Scotland at SEC Glasgow 3-4 December and Space-Comm Expo Europe at ExCeL London 4-5 March 2026.
