Rolls-Royce is set to create around 200 jobs at its Derby plant in response to an increase in flying hours for the aircraft its engines power.

The £55m investment will cover both Derby and its manufacturing facility in Dahlewitz, Germany and increase the manufacturing giant’s headcount by 300 people in total.

GKN Aerospace has strengthened its long-term partnership with engine-maker Safran, after signing a decade-long agreement to expand its support for the LEAP engines.

The contract covers new shafts and spare part production for the Leap 1A variant for the Airbus A320neo aircraft, with the expectation to produce similar components for the LEAP 1B for the Boeing 737-MAX aircraft in the future.

Aircraft deliveries are the highest since 2019 with a total of 76 deliveries and a 3% overall increase compared to February 2023. The month has continued to reinforce the anticipated growth in wide-body deliveries with a 7% increase compared to 2023, this is due to the return of international long-haul travel
