Swindon Borough Council and Brunel University of London have submitted a bid to UK Research and Innovation’s Local Investment in Partnerships Fund to establish a drone and defence technology cluster in the town.

The formal application seeks funding for a 60-month programme to support hi-tech manufacturing growth in uncrewed aerial systems, autonomy and defence technology.

The bid will help address financial challenges in creating an innovation cluster and support new facilities, including advanced manufacturing space and a programme to strengthen research and development activity across local businesses.
