Latest FSW process from Cytec Systems in joining materials

Estimated reading time 1 minute

Friction stir welding (FSW) is a process of joining materials by creating a weld by moving a rotating tool along the butted face of component.

FSW is often used for joining Aluminium, Copper and Titanium alloys.

CyTec have been working on the FSW process for over 10 years. Our focus has been on welding heads and tools for use with robotics.

The technology is based on many years of development and production of CyTec spindles and milling heads for machine tools.

The FSW spindles incorporate force regulation with shear force transducers enabling the spindles to function when mounted onto robots or special purpose machines. The spindles incorporate the CyTec automatic hydromechanical tool clamping system.
