The mechanical testing laboratory at the University of Strathclyde’s Advanced Forming Research Centre has been accredited to the internationally recognised ISO 17025 standard. The centre is part of the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS).
Awarded by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), the AFRC, which is also part of the High Value Manufacturing (HVM) Catapult has secured the gold standard for four mechanical testing techniques. Plans to construct a £30m manufacturing training centre in a Nottinghamshire town have been given the green light. The new Automated Distribution and Manufacturing Centre (ADMC) will be located on Lowmoor Road in Kirkby in Ashfield.
Ashfield District Council has called the ADMC the “flagship project” of its £62.6m Towns Deal. Aqualand Industries, a West Yorkshire maker of electric carts and buggies, says it has enjoyed record sales for holiday parks, theme parks, and zoos across the UK and Europe this year. The Holmfirth-based advanced manufacturer saw sales climb 700% to 441 units in the first half of the year.
The Bradford Manufacturing Futures partnership, led by Bradford Council, has awarded a contract to development and engineering consultancy Arup to help manufacturing companies across Bradford district decarbonise.
Arup will work with several project partners to produce a district-wide Decarbonisation Master Plan.
