Mazak launches high-performance XB press brake range for European manufacturers

20th October, 2026 Estimated reading time 3 minutes

Mazak has launched the new XB series of high-precision press brakes for the European market, extending Mazak’s sheet metal portfolio into bending and enabling manufacturers to manage a connected CAD-to-cut-to-bend process through one trusted technology partner.

Positioned around performance, value and support, the OPTONICS “Powered by Mazak” range offers an entry-level price without an entry-level specification. Its robust construction, advanced controls and flexible configuration options are designed to deliver dependable productivity and long-term value across a wide variety of sheet metal applications.

At the heart of the XB series is a patented hybrid drive system that uses independent electric servo motors and pumps on the Y1 and Y2 axes. Power is delivered only when required, enabling rapid ram acceleration and bending speeds of up to 15 mm/sec while reducing standby losses, operating noise and ongoing maintenance requirements.

Compared with a conventional hydraulic press brake, the hybrid system can reduce power consumption by up to 60% and deliver cycle speeds up to 25% faster. This supports Mazak’s Go Green commitment to reducing environmental impact throughout the machine lifecycle, while helping customers lower operating costs and maximise uptime.

The launch range comprises the XB 130-32, XB 170-32 and XB 250-41, all in A and B models, with press capacities from 130 t to 250 t and maximum bending lengths from 3,200 mm to 4,100 mm. High-rigidity construction, precision linear measuring scales and CNC-controlled crowning help maintain consistent bending accuracy across both short runs and volume production.

Manufacturers can specify Euro-style or WILA-style tool clamping in manual or hydraulic crowning configurations, supported by a choice of multi-axis, high-speed servo backgauges. Standard and advanced gauging options enable precise sheet positioning and repeatability, including the processing of complex components.

A dual 21” touchscreen interface provides operators with bending data, program information and graphics at a glance through the OPTONICS SmoothBEND NC control.

Together with MAZAK SMART SYSTEM Bend and MAZAK SMART SYSTEM Design, these capabilities help create a more efficient digital workflow from part design and unfolding through to laser cutting and bending. Offline preparation reduces non-production time, while grouping parts around common tool set-ups can increase throughput in high-mix, low-volume environments.

As an affiliate brand “Powered by Mazak”, OPTONICS customers benefit from Mazak’s established European service organisation, applications engineering expertise and parts support, including the European Parts Centre in Belgium.

Ian White, General Business Manager – Mazak OPTONICS Europe, said: “The OPTONICS XB series gives manufacturers a compelling new bending option and enables customers to source laser cutting, press brake and software capabilities from Mazak as one complete sheet metal solutions provider.

“We have listened carefully to customers and developed a range that combines a highly competitive investment level with a strong standard specification, intuitive operation and the support expected from Mazak. It offers a reliable force for every workshop and a practical route to greater productivity across the complete cutting and bending process.”

The XB series will make its European debut at EuroBLECH 2026, supporting Mazak’s wider commitment to providing manufacturers with a complete, connected sheet metal ecosystem.
