A new hydrogen pipeline linking North Nottinghamshire and the Humber is being hailed as a game-changer for jobs and industry in the East Midlands.
The East Coast Hydrogen Pipeline (ECHP), led by Cadent, will connect major hydrogen production at HyMarnham Power with key energy-intensive industries, including steel, chemicals, food and drink, and manufacturing.
Once operational, the pipeline could cut up to 600,000 tonnes of CO₂ each year and help the East Midlands’ hydrogen sector grow to 10,000 direct jobs and 7,000 construction roles by 2050, adding £3.4bn to the regional economy.
