Award winning Third Dimension is celebrating 20 years of revolutionising the metrology of advanced engineering industries such as aerospace, automotive and energy. It leads its markets with the GapGun range of ergonomic profile measurement systems.
The company was founded by Dr Tim Monks in 1995 in order to commercialise the results of his PhD research work in 3d machine vision.
Initially providing consultancy and bespoke developments for leaders in the metrology and aerospace businesses, in 2004 Third Dimension moved into product development and launched the GapGun range of innovative, laser based measurement systems.
Third Dimension is an established company with a strong track record of both growth and profitability, counting almost all major automotive and aerospace OEMs amongst its customers.
The Company has achieved a number of milestones –
- Tripled sales and exports in the past five years;
- Now employs 22 people, including all four original staff members;
- Won several awards for export, including the Queen’s Award and EEF South West
