A US-owned energy company that took on the Government and won the right to build underground gas storage facilities in Lancashire has appointed a liquidator.

Halite Energy Group has run out of funds to realise its ambitions.

This is despite directors stating in their last accounts for the year to March 31, 2024, filed on January 6, 2025, that the business was able to continue as a going concern.

Halite has appointed Wbg turnaround specialist, Donald McKinnon, as liquidator.

McKinnon said: “Halite Energy Group had the rights to develop a fully permitted gas storage facility in former salt caverns.
