Mazak makes it to MACH with 10 machines
Yamazaki Mazak is exhibiting 10 machines at MACH 2014 including new additions to the INTEGREX i-series of multi-tasking machines and the UK-built VTC 800 series of vertical machining centres.
The 10 machines, which will be displayed under the theme of “make [it] better”, all offer best-in-class speed, accuracy and machining performance for UK manufacturers.
Multi-tasking machines will take a central role with the new INTEGREX i-100S, the latest variant of Mazak’s flagship INTEGREX range, the stand-out machine. The new INTEGREX combines a large machining area with compact ergonomic design and highly accurate performance. The MACH machine is capable of machining both round and square workpieces from raw material with just one set up, one machine and one operator. It is also equipped with a new BARTAC S bar feed system, which offers integrated work unloading and conveyor handling of completed workpieces for lights-out and unmanned running.
One of the highlights of the show will be the latest version of the VTC 800 series, a UK-built high capacity simultaneous 5-axis vertical travelling column machining centre with a high a load capacity and large machining envelope. Alongside will be the SLANT TURN NEXUS 550, a high rigidity CNC turning centre ideal for heavy-duty applications. The machine is capable of efficiently cutting long shaft workpieces with a powerful 45kW spindle motor and maximum torque of 7000N.m.
Mazak will also be exhibiting its new HORIZONTAL CENTER NEXUS 4000-III, a machine equipped with exceptional capacity and the largest axis range in its class. The new machine is capable of outstanding productivity with a spindle speed range up to 18,000 rpm, combined with a high rigidity main structure design which enables 1G acceleration.
Mazak’s capabilities in sheet metal cutting will be demonstrated by the OPTIPLEX 3015 Fiber II, the first fibre laser processing machine to be introduced by Mazak. The machine has been specifically designed to efficiently cut thin workpieces, eliminating the use of laser gas and reducing electrical power consumption in the oscillator and chiller unit by 80 per cent, whilst providing faster penetration of thin material. The OPTIPLEX 3015 Fiber II has the potential to increase productivity by more than 30 per cent.
Visitors to the Mazak stand will be able to see all the machines in live cutting action during the show. Mazak’s experienced applications engineers will also be on hand to offer advice and answer any technical questions customers may have regarding any of the Mazak machines being exhibited.
In addition to the 10 machines on the Mazak stand, two more Mazak machines can be viewed at MACH 2014. An INTEGREX j-300 will be exhibited on the Mollart stand and a VARIAXIS i-500, equipped with Siemens Sinumerik 800D sl control will be on the Siemens stand at the show.
Richard Smith, Managing Director UK & Ireland Sales Division for Yamazaki Mazak, commented: “Mazak truly has a solution for all manufacturing needs, from entry level through to multi-tasking and laser, to full integration and automation. I am particularly excited to be able to bring two new heavy-duty cutting machines to MACH for the first time, namely the SLANT TURN NEXUS and the new HORIZONTAL CENTER NEXUS, both of which are able to maintain best-in-class levels of accuracy whilst operating at exceptional cutting speeds.”
He continued: “Our theme for MACH is “make [it] better” which, for Mazak users, means outstanding productivity and cutting speeds with no compromise on accuracy or component quality. I look forward to welcoming UK machine tool users onto our stand at MACH 2014 and demonstrating our state-of-the-art machining technology.”
