Morson Announce Thomas Cook MRO Partnership

Morson Projects is proud to announce a new partnership with Thomas Cook Airlines to manage its line maintenance operations at five UK based airports; Gatwick, Glasgow, Newcastle, Birmingham and East Midlands, safeguarding 65 jobs.

Thomas Cook Airlines is one of Europe’s leading leisure airlines, with a fleet of 101 aircraft. The airline carries over 19 million customers per year to 120 destinations.

In 2018, Morson Projects entered the MRO market as an EASA Part 145 approved maintenance provider. The Group already had excellent connections to the MRO industry and its engineers through recruitment arm Morson International and its activities in resource provision. Morson Projects EASA Part 145 approval takes these connections to the next level in delivering fully certified maintenance solutions for Morson Projects’ clients. We currently hold Line Maintenance approval on Airbus A320 family and Boeing 737 aircraft and this contract with Thomas Cook will bolster our approval to now include Airbus A330.

Scott Wells, Aircraft Engineering Director said “Transferring five line stations simultaneously in any live operation is a challenging task. However, working closely with Thomas Cook Airlines, we have delivered a brand new operation without a single maintenance delay. It’s a real testament to the Morson Group’s ability to react, pool resource and deliver. I’m proud to be leading the team that have worked tirelessly over Christmas and New Year to deliver safely, efficiently and clinically in tight time scales. It’s been an incredible journey. We utilise proprietary systems that make us both modern and efficient. Our systems are unlike any I’ve worked with before and give us the capability to deliver for our customers in ways that were previously just not possible.”

Morson Projects’ Executive Director, Chris Burke, commented, “Morson Projects started down the EASA Part 145 maintenance route just 12 months ago and by mid-summer this year we will be operating out of seven UK airports.”

Paul Hutchings, Managing Director Operations, Thomas Cook Airlines says, “As an excellent provider of engineering and maintenance services, our new partnership with Morson Projects started seamlessly over the Christmas period. We look forward to working with Morson Projects moving forward.”
