Aerospace giant Airbus, which has a major plant in Bristol, has said problems in getting enough engines for its completed aircraft is hitting its delivery targets.  It delivered total of 306 commercial aircraft during the six months to June 30 – a fall of 17 on the same period last year.

Airbus, the world’s largest plane maker said it now has around 60 complete or almost complete aircraft parked outside its factories – up from an estimate of 40 last month – as it waits for the delivery of engines from US firm Pratt & Whitney and Franco-American aircraft engine manufacturer CFM.

Airbus reaffirmed the target for a 7% rise in annual deliveries to 820 jets.
