Berniq Airways, Libya’s airline, has placed a firm order with aircraft manufacturer, Airbus, for six A320neo Family aircraft.

The deal was signed at the Farnborough Air Show, which is currently under way, where the company had already clinched orders for 43 new aircraft ahead of the Berniq Airways announcement.

Derby-based Rolls-Royce has signed a TotalCare service agreement with Vietjet for the fleet of 40 Trent 7000 engines that will power 20 Airbus A330neo aircraft.  The engine order was announced at Singapore Airshow in February this year.

Cranfield University has become part of an industry innovation cluster which aims to address the complex challenges of the future of flight through close collaborative work.

The European Technology Development Clusters (E-TDCs) established by Avio Aero brings together prestigious universities, research centres and SMEs, and Cranfield is now a partner in the research framework.

Leonardo in Yeovil, the Home of British Helicopters, has secured £322M of export orders since September 2023.  This includes contracts with Japan and South Korea in the past few weeks.

In Japan, Leonardo and Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) agreed a contract for additional MCH-101 naval helicopters kits for the Japanese Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF).

Tata Consultancy Services has expanded its partnership with Rolls-Royce to advance its sustainable initiatives.  This collaboration involves research into hydrogen fuel system technology, continuing to prove hydrogen could be a zero-carbon aviation fuel of the future.

Commercial aircraft orders fell 71% in the first half of 2024 compared with the first half of 2023, while deliveries fell by 14% in the same period, the latest figures from ADS show.

According to the trade association for the UK’s aerospace, defence, security and space sectors’ data, other than 2023, aircraft orders in the first half of 2024 remain at their highest level since 2018.

Aircraft manufacturer, Airbus, has signed deals for 43 new planes at the Farnborough Air Show, including 31 for Japan Airlines, seven for Virgin Atlantic, and five for Drukair.

Japan Airlines (JAL) signed a firm order for 20 A350-900 widebody aircraft and 11 single-aisle A321neo, finalising a commitment announced earlier this year.

The new A350-900s will join the carrier’s A350 fleet serving international routes, while the A321neo will operate on domestic services within Japan. To date, JAL has ordered a total of 52 A350s, with 18 in service.  The A321neo contract represents JAL’s first order for the Airbus single-aisle product line.

Aircraft manufacturer, Airbus, rounded off last week’s Farnborough International Airshow with orders for almost 100 new aircraft, following several key orders earlier in the week.

Saudi Arabia low-cost carrier, flynas, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus, for 75 A320neo family aircraft and 15 A330-900 planes. This strategic agreement will expand the airline’s capacity, range and enhance its overall fleet capabilities.
