Essar Energy Transition (EET), which plans to create the world’s leading low carbon process refinery at Stanlow, in Cheshire, has been awarded £2.5m from the Government’s Department for Transport (DfT), towards it plans.
The funding, part of the Government’s Advanced Fuels Fund (AFF) scheme, is to develop one of the UK’s largest advanced Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) production hubs.
EET plans to establish a Methanol-to-Jet (MtJ) production hub capable of producing 200,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) of advanced SAF, using approximately 550,000 tpa of renewable e-methanol and bio-methanol sourced domestically in the UK and internationally, including from EET’s sister company, Essar Future Energies, which is developing an e-methanol project in Gujarat, India. https://www.thebusinessdesk.com/northwest/news/2155931-government-funding-drives-clean-fuel-initiative-at-stanlow-processing-plant?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=NorthWest_23rd_Jul_2025_Daily
Global aviation finance company, Avolon, has placed an order for 90 Airbus aircraft, comprising 15 A330neo (new engine option) and 75 A321neo. This incremental order brings Avolon’s total to 79 A330neos and 264 A321neos.
Andy Cronin, Avolon CEO, said: “This order demonstrates our strong confidence in the long-term demand for new aircraft. Our scale and balance sheet position us to support our airline customers’ expansion and replacement needs into the next decade.
“Both the A321neo and A330neo are in high demand, and we expect this to continue given the long-term growth trajectory for the aviation sector. We are delighted to be expanding and extending our long-term partnership with Airbus with this order.”
