Energy retailer Ovo is planning to launch a new renewables arm which it will use to repower ageing onshore wind farms with more modern technology.

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) has published its Clean Flexibility Roadmap, outlining how it intends to build a more flexible electricity system in which businesses and homes contribute to energy security as more intermittent renewables come online.
The roadmap focuses on the role of clean flexibility in enabling a secure and affordable energy system powered increasingly by renewable sources. The Government is aiming for 95% of the UK’s electricity generation mix to be renewable and nuclear by 2030.
Flexibility refers to the ability to shift the demand or supply of electricity. This includes consumer-led flexibility, battery storage, interconnectors, long-duration electricity storage (LDES) and low-carbon dispatchable generation.
