Ofgem wants to introduce a new investment fund of between £5bn and £8bn to help prevent delays to the construction of grid infrastructure that will be crucial to decarbonising Britain’s electricity grid.

The regulator is striving to launch the Advanced Procurement Mechanism (APM), which will provide allowances for transmission owners to buy essential equipment further in advance, in early 2025.
