The South West firm planning to re-open the world’s second-largest tungsten mine has reached another critical stage in the project after signing two supply agreements.
Plymouth-based Tungsten West said the contracts covered major additions for its improvement plan which would enable it to restart production at the Hemerdon tungsten and tin mine in Plympton later this year.
The firm was appointed Coventry-headquartered infrastructure specialist Duo Group, which also has a base in Exeter, to carry out an engineering procurement and construction works package for the mine’s new build crushing, screening and ore sorter facility, while Australian mining equipment firm Gekko Systems will supply an in-line pressure jigs system and associated infrastructure.
