Dutton Simulation Ltd provides manufacturing simulation software, engineering consultancy and training to companies in the metal forming sector.
We supply the latest simulation solutions for product designers and manufacturers, component suppliers and tooling engineering companies, including world class methods for cost estimating, part design feasibility and manufacturing simulation. We support this with comprehensive training and technical support to ensure successful implementation.
Industries served include automotive, aerospace, white goods, electronics and all forms of precision engineering. A wide range of forming processes can be analysed: rigid die cold forming, profile roll-forming, warm and hot forming, tube and sheet hydroforming and superplastic forming, as well as joining processes. We ensure that manufacturing feasibility is addressed at all stages of the design.
Computer aided engineering is our core strength. Simulation takes the uncertainty out of the design process by predicting defects before tooling is manufactured. We identify forming defects (splitting, wrinkling, thinning and surface defects) and also calculate springback and determine the required tool compensation to correct it. Our methods also allow calculation of blank size and optimal nesting to assess material utilization, and optimise process cost.
Dutton supplies software from leading international developers; FormingSuite from FTI, including the industry standard FASTBLANK module; DYNAFORM from ETA, based on the LS-DYNA solver; for
section roll forming design and analysis we offer PROFIL from UBECO; and we supply forming and joining simulation from Simufact We also sell CAD translation tools from DataKit. The Dutton team has more than 20 years’ experience in supplying and using these software systems.
In addition to software supply, Dutton provides consultancy in product feasibility, process planning and die design, along with blank development and forming simulation. We engage in R&D for new processes and materials. Dutton also develops and runs a range of introductory and advanced training courses on all aspects of manufacturing metal components.
