Long referred to as the ultimate classic and iconic van from the 1950s, the Morris J-type is making a triumphant comeback as the Morris JE.
Morris Commercial, a new company formed with rights to this historic name, have a vision to revive the iconic brand with a series of all-electric vehicles. Drawing upon the styling themes from the past they have started with the introduction of the new Morris JE.
Fully electric, the Morris JE will utilise advanced battery technology with a lightweight platform. Combining classically inspired design with the heritage of the original J-type, the new JE will be built using British craftsmanship.
The project, which has been led by a highly experienced team of established automotive designers and engineers, has been a well-kept secret during the development phase, which has now resulted in a fully operational engineering prototype. Headquartered in Worcestershire, the project benefits from an established team of industry experts and consultants from across Europe.
Moving forward the company has chosen GTMA Member Desktop Engineering Ltd to supply and support them with Dassault Systemes 3DEXPERIENCE platform as their design and collaboration technology.
As an On-Cloud solution, the 3DEXPERIENCE platform delivers CATIA design and ENOVIA data management capability without the need for installation and server infrastructure normally associated with this technology.
As EuroNorth’s top business partner for Dassault Systemes On Cloud solution, Desktop Engineering’s Managing Director Geoff Haines commented:
“It’s great to see such icons of Britain’s automotive past being re-imagined for the 21st century. In line with their forward-looking vision they have selected the 3DEXPERIENCE platform as the new data driven technology to set them apart from their competitors and deliver real design and collaboration productivity”
