Fenton Precision Engineering Invest in new CNC Equipment due to an increase in demand

It’s been a strange and hectic period yet strangely exciting for Fenton Precision Engineering during the last 3-4months. soldiering on since March 2020, proudly maintaining our 83 permanent staff, without furlough, and running 24/5 shifts on both sites. With new RFQ’s for standalone tooling and injection moulding components at an all-time high, the last 3-4 months have flown.

With re-shoring of current and new projects, new start-up companies going into injection moulding, COVID-19 related projects, current customer RFQ’s coupled with their own range of new products – its been a very busy and exciting  3-4 months. The UK has an excellent pool of high quality tool making companies and injection moulders, let’s not forget Great Britain was and still is the global lead for engineering projects and respected globally for this. Its time to really promote this and shout about it!

Due to increase in demand, we took the swift decision to invest in another brand new CNC (VMC) from C Dugard Ltd . It’s their 6th VMC on site (installed 10th July) to support a busy tool making facility with capacity at their HQ located in Wellingborough.

Recently having won an additional tooling project and will be exporting the tools oversea’ s once commissioned and approved at our injection moulding facility. Export of tooling is seen as a growth area coupled with the home markets.

Fenton’s tool-making facility has a full range of CNC machines including EDM Wire and EDM sparking machines, we have invested heavily over the last 5 years with capital equipment for both sides of our business, taking full advantage of current low interest rates and loans available.

The Dugard CNC is our 2nd 760 VMC range with Mitsubishi control, 20x auto tool changer, through coolant spindle and auto chip flush system. The machine will support new tooling manufacture, core and cavity insert work and general precision machining. Fenton are familiar with this brand and this becomes their 4th Dugard VMC on site.

Some positive news amongst the current climate and difficult times, long may it continue and support the UK with confidence and supporting the economy.
