Suppliers of manufacturing services to the oil and gas exploration industry are showing a growing appetite for investment in portable shopfloor measurement solutions.
That’s the view of Hexagon Metrology UK after a successful appearance at Offshore Europe, the world’s largest upstream oil and gas exhibition and conference held outside North America.
“The market for measurement systems in this sector continues to expand as suppliers want to put greater resources into smarter, more efficient production technologies,” said regional sales manager Steve Shickell.
“More engineering businesses now recognise they can further improve product quality by taking advantage of the many benefits offered by the latest equipment,” he added.
Visitors to Hexagon Metrology’s stand were able to get a closer look at the ROMER Absolute portable measuring arm, which was equipped with the new RS3 integrated laser scanner.
Some even volunteered to have their faces scanned by the high-speed kit.
The UK’s leading metrology solutions provider also reported strong interest not only in its range of portable measuring arms, but also for laser trackers and co-ordinate measuring machines. It shared its stand with Hexagon companies, Intergraph and Leica Geosystems.
