ABR (Specialist Welding) Ltd

Widely acknowledged as market leaders in our field, the name ABR has been synonymous with the precision welding of plastic injection, pressure die casting and press tools for over 40 years.

ABR provide a range of refined “metal on” processes for the purpose of tool repair, rectification of design faults, machining errors and tooling modifications.

Below is a summary of ABR’s main services, all carried out to the highest standards in accordance with ISO 9001:2015

Laser Welding:

7 laser welding systems, 8 tonne handling capacity. Ultra-precise weld placement, cold process, minimal distortion and heat sink. Weld down holes and slots 1-2mm wide. Excellent results on aluminum and
copper.

Micro Welding:

Developed in-house by ABR to enable the precise placement of tiny beads of  weld. Less heat input and heat sink than conventional TIG welding.

TIG Welding:

Reliable established process carried out to the highest standard.

Plating:

Cold process, hard wearing. Ideally suited to diameters (internal and external) and large surface areas. Can be applied in conjunction with laser welding to overcome plating access problem and the chipping off of corners and edges, a common problem with some plating processes

On Site Welding:

Fast call out, nationwide service.

Prototype/Production Welding:

Are you looking to develop a new product? Perhaps you are considering laser welding as a means of improving an existing design?. ABR offer a prototype welding service in all materials including aluminum, copper and titanium. Using lasers ABR can weld thin wall or delicate components with minimal heat input and distortion. The laser beam can also access restricted areas conventional welding techniques cannot reach. Prototype welding can be extended to the welding of small trial batches often without expensive fixture costs. ABR can also advise on the weldability of your design, choice of material, fixture design and weld testing.

Also available silver soldering/brazing, cast iron spray welding & MIG welding.  All but the largest undertakings are completed on a while you wait/next day basis. An overnight courier service links us with our more distant customers, or we can collect/deliver tools personally.
