Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence UK is giving a helping hand to the next generation of engineers at a new training facility in the Midlands.

The leading measurement solutions provider has supplied a range of equipment to establish a dedicated metrology room at the MTC’s Lloyds Bank Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre in Coventry.

Thanks to Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence’s sponsorship, apprentices will be able to learn an array of metrology skills and put them into practice on a wide variety of projects designed to develop innovative production processes.

The equipment in the new metrology room not only includes a GLOBAL Performance co- ordinate measuring machine equipped with Tesa probe, but also a ROMER portable measuring arm and some Swift-Fix modular fixturing systems.

More than 1,000 trainees including apprentices will be trained at the centre over the next ten years with the aim of providing business-ready technicians and engineers for the UK manufacturing sector.

“As a long-standing Tier One member, we’re delighted to support the MTC and play a part in helping to address the skills shortage in the engineering industry,” commented Brett Green, sales and marketing director at Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence UK.
