Nottinghamshire based Swiftool Precision Engineering has been awarded AS9100 Certificate of Approval, further complimenting it’s advanced manufacturing processes and world class quality system.
Managing Director, Stuart Handley said “We are very proud of this accreditation and look forward to supporting new supply chains with exciting opportunities within the Aerospace sector. AS9100 is yet another step towards our ambition- offering our customers the ultimate advantage of quality without compromise in a highly competitive market “. This approval comes in the midst of another period of expansion for Swiftool. In the last five years, the Nottinghamshire based company has grown from a £3M turnover business to a £13M business, fuelled by an investment programme aimed at catapulting its technical abilities through innovation and efficiency.
Swiftool is a family owned SME supplying high integrity precision machined components, kits, mechanical assemblies and turnkey engineering projects to the nuclear, oil and gas and aerospace sectors. During 2016 Swiftool identified that their high quality practice and in house skills mirrored those potentially required within the Aerospace industry. It was felt that the current ISO 9001:2015, Rolls Royce SABRe certification and SC21 programme was the perfect platform to realise the journey of attaining AS9100 certification. As a result of eight month’s focused effort lead by Head of Quality Chris Handley, Swiftool were delighted to receive the AS9100 certification in November.
As a member of the GTMA Swiftool were hopeful that our new AS9100 accreditation would create further opportunities to partner in Industry – and this proved to be the case. Almost immediately Swiftool was approached by an Aerospace company with an urgent operational requirement for the supply of an initial batch of safety critical high precision components. Utilising the ‘fast turnaround’ cell with multi axis machining capability, Swiftool was able to manufacture, verify and deliver the complex parts correctly, on time and on budget – delighting the customer and as a result being awarded preferred supplier status for this particular component.
Founded in 1977, Swiftool was the very first company to achieve BS 5750 in Nottinghamshire ! Today, they are a tier one supplier to global industry partners employing over ninety people and have taken delivery of their first new machine for 2017 – a five axis, high speed machining centre. Complimenting the ‘fast turnaround’ machining and assembly cell.
In addition to investing in technical and quality enhancements in 2017, Swiftool are also embarking on a programme to further develop their people through formal knowledge transfer programmes, enhanced training and development and the continuation of apprenticeship placements.”Maintaining a workplace culture that reflects our values as a family business is very important to Swiftool” says Stuart ” It is important for us to address our social responsibility as a local employer whilst improving innovation as and business performance at the same time. We believe that driving innovation, quality without compromise and investing in our people will continue to build Swiftool’s reputation as a top tier supplier in 2017 and beyond”.
