Workholding refers to any device used to secure a workpiece and hold it in place against the forces of machining. The simplest is a clamp; screwed into place on a machining centre’s table. However, workholding can also involve complex fixtures that are custom-built for particular parts. Other common workholding devices include vices and chucks, as well as indexers or rotary tables.
Cutting equipment can come in a variety of forms, but usually all involve a blade of some description. However, laser cutting is available. Cutting tools started off a tools made solely from high carbon steel, but now they come in a variety of materials including cobalt, abridge and even diamond or ceramic. Slitting saws, combination cutting tools and milling cutters are just a handful of equipment options available in the GTMA Supplier Directory.
Ancillary equipment is often accessories or additional add-ons which are used with a main piece of engineering equipment to create a complete system. For example, drill rigs can often be complimented by air boosters, air compressors, casing jacks or water injectors.
The GTMA Supplier Directory has a vast array of workholding, cutting and ancillary equipment listed, with appropriate suppliers.
